Maybe it is a semantic thing...your mistake is...
Maybe it is a semantic thing...your mistake is using the word 'building.' It's not like building the Pyramids or the Empire State Building...it's making a little circle with your hand.

I double pump, grind then let the lather simmer...
I double pump, grind then let the lather simmer down some, then some slow swirls followed by 5 quick pumps. By this time the lather is essentially engineered for success.
