I find that the glycerin makes the lather nice and thick, the olive oil gives it an added slickness! I've heard that the olive oil is GREAT for your skin too!

It does sound like your mix was a little oil rich there! I loaded my boar brush with enough soap to have lather for a 3 pass shave and used only 4-5 drops. I really noticed a difference!
