Good to hear from you as well! The more feedback, the better! I think the next razor I do will be finished at 8k then stropped using this method. If we can eventually get the same results as a razor...

A few more weeks and I'm still getting incredible shaves!!! I don't know if it's just coincidence but I'm finding that the progression works faster on carbon steel blades compared to stainless...

I don't have any experience working with the shaptons so I can only comment from reading threads here. Apparently the shapton 16k and 30k are extremely agressive and lots of folks seem to have issues...

I haven't the equipment to examine edges under magnification BUT Marty did mention to me, on more than one occasion, that stropping does 'boat-hull' the cutting edge. He routinely examines his work...

After talking to Marty I decided to do a few laps before each shave. Apparently the blade will keep getting better and better so we'll see how that goes.

Another week of shaving off the .125 and the shaves are still incredible. I've been doing 4 -10 laps before each shave and that seems to be all that is needed!

Trondsi, I don't doubt that your blades are getting sharper from stropping with the slurry on them, there's no doubt in my mind in fact. Stropping, treated or not, whether it be linen, cotton, nylon,...

Never tried that no. I can't see that taking the edge any further than the grit of the stone itself.
If you were to do that, the grit of the stone would affect it just as you were honing. The idea...

Definitely not every day, only when the shave degrades past the point of comfort that you wish.
These hanging strops, IMHO, are preferred over pieces of balsa and very affordable as well.

I need to start at the beginning for this to all make sense. I'll make it short and sweet though.
