I may be the exception, but the wider blades are easier for me to manipulate in tough areas. Definitely round points are easier for me but I have had success with spikes.

I find that if I peel the skin off my face, staple it to a board all tight and stretched, then I can get a super close shave all over. Haven't figured out how to re-attach the skin to my face...
