Most synthetic hones are around 3x8" which works well as an all around size. They do vary a little in thickness. I try to get them 3/4" ish thick.

He is referring to zwilling as they are the same company as Henckels.

While you are at it order a good 30x lighted loupe. It is the most simple way of telling when the bevel is set and ready for a shave test.

You could also send it out. Most razors only ever need to have the bevel set once. From there it is simple maintenance. So if you think about the numbers. Postage out and back, and $25 for honing...
