Funny we don't see more scales made with Ox. I class Ox horn as superior to buffalo , it feels like glass to me. The colours are amazing, i have just discovered red..

Ox horn always surprises me because you don't really know what you will get until near the end....

Straight scales do play an optical illusion, as in they look bent but yet they are 100% straight.. I nearly went for the traditional FBU curved scale shape but forced myself to go...

The green in these scales has a golden metallic look.. I'm really impressed.. I had enough for one more set, they are being fitted to a stub tail but its all a bit touch n go until tomorrow's final...

Yes I'd say the grain is fine, hence the weight and glassy feel.
I had to to go for scales that are a bit beefy to complement this heafty Wade and Butcher :The king of all razors :))

I must say the Ox horn is better than buffalo in feel, looks and sturdiness..There can be lamination issues ,it is more layered, for want of good english .
Honed up these on the ozuku the larger one...

Finished up these two today ..
Brass lined wedge on the Ox horn scales & Bronze lined wedge on the Cocobolo scales..
Hours of peening took place :) They should have nice bevels when honed......

I was at it again today . My arms feel like jelly. I did used to run cross country for my borough and used to swim 3 miles a day , so i can go and go :)

I did these and some cocobolo scales, by the end my arms were completely spent :) Sanded up to 3k

I bought stock from a company in the UK which closed down last year..
