I was told it is one of a kind.
It is the hardest stone i've encountered, requiring a lot of work with a diamond plate to generate a slurry and it cuts so fast that it is...

I finish with or without water depending on the stone and i don't dilute anything.

#For me it is about how much work can you do without doing too much..which also relates to slurry thickness.

I have 2 Atoma's 1200 and both have worn through in the middle which is a shame. They are great for creating slurries now.
Also have 2 DMT 325's Both required a lot of work to remove raised parts...

I do trust the seller. He has proven to be honest and very knowledgeable .

What I was thinking and maybe im way off the mark here.

This looks to me to be an old stone because of the way it was...

I was told that there was a faint Maruka stamp on the side but from the pictures I cant see anything apart from this mark on the end..

I questioned Mr Maksim about my Maruka that had no Maruka markings.

He informed me that my stone was a Maruka and this picture shows the remnants of a Maruka stamp..

There is but a tiny part of...

On closer inspection of my stone it does have those wing like markings only they are white and not black.
The stones with the black Karasu like in your pictures are the most attractive stones,imo.

Mine was described as Karasu, would you agree? "536"

So what does Karasu mean?

A mixture of colours?

I see its not the traditional Maruka stamp ..

If you do a google search of "Nakayama Maruka stamps " in images , you will see many with the same formations as mine...

I totally agree. Mine was bought from JNS on the understanding that it was his best finisher regardless of stamps.
It is a big clean stone which is why it was so expensive , real estate .

Dosn't the Maruka stamp mean that the stone is a Nakayama of the highest quality?
I have a JNS top stamped one . I paid a small fortune for it, but I swear by it.
I now do all my honing on it bar...
