When I started I would lather sections of my face at a time. As my technique improves I have been lathering my whole face, then just add more lather if it starts to dry in some areas.

I found the soap dries fast but I am new and I think the time it takes to shave is more the problem. I have had more luck with the creams, seem to stay moist longer. The second pass XTG seems fine...
