Nononono, you get super strength, export strength, regular strength, mid strength then light (think shandy bass)

Guinness is pretty full on, I would go for a porter or something first, or almost any of the real ales they range quite dramatically in strength.
I would however not bother with light beer unless...

Same here, crappy European beers are raved about, but back in the UK they are really not that exciting or lauded, anyway as I said I drink emu or Melbourne unless my wife buys something more socially...

I think fosters is possibly the only beer that an Aussie wouldn't drink. :) but by buying it you are keeping people in jobs :)
