Agree with the stropping - develop and improve on the fundamentals of stropping. Then do lots. I was the same, 20/40 maybe....now, 40 on the felt after a shave, and 60 on the leather, then 20 linen...

One of the biggest leaps for me, don't know if this works for everyone else, but it seems to give great results for me.

I use short strokes with the razor in conjunction with stretching the skin....

Stropping...aside from the shaving itself, the single most important element IMO.

Can't remember who posted it, but the OP posted a pic of a blade edge, after honing, with 50 laps on the leather....

Yup - exactly a year ago for me when I finally joined SRP.

Now, I can't imagine shaving any other way, the mindfulness of the shave, the technique, the absolutely beautiful soaps really made me...
