Depends if you like a hot shave or a cold shave...for me, I prefer it cold. Having said that, I find some ketchup an amazing pre-shave, really gets the beard ready for the blade!!

Alum does tighten your skin up...if you have a styptic pen, it's alum, used to close a wound.

Well, the MWF certainly lathered up a storm, went on very nice and thick. Had a nice scent, shave went great...while shaving, was thinking I couldn't now not remember shaving with a straight!!
