I use an Washita with a fresh surface to take out chips. You really have to be careful because it can get quite aggressive.

I have. It works and works well. You have to be careful not to press too hard or get too aggressive making slurry or you will have a large bit of slurry and it is like honing with a 1 karat diamond...

I personally don't burnish my soft or hard. Only my finishers. I like the cutting power of a freshly lapped soft and hard. That's just me though. Of course you could always burnish one side and lap...

I have been doing this exact thing for months now...
I have been doing this exact thing for months now with success. I also just lap my washita and use it with glycerin. I have also done the same with my soft from dans (lap and use a coticule slurry)...
