I've never needed to reapply with Arko for a second/third pass.

I did that on a trip earlier this year with Arko; though at the sink rather than the shower. I found that it never lathered up enough for my liking (what a surprise for Arko) - perhaps it was too dry...

My go-to is Arko but I've actually been using a "chunk" of MWF and Strop Shoppe as a make-shift shave stick. I just grab the chunk of soap and use it as I would any other shave stick by rubbing it on...
