Just to add to my post, Im pretty sure strops can only be rolled and not tightly with the stropping surface on the outside of the coil. If they did the opposite, the finish of the stropping surface...

I would just return it if possible and let them know that their shipping procedures are doing harm to the merchandise. Maybe a picture of the damage might be of help to see if its salvageable or not...
