Maybe pure speculation but I doubt many in this biz rely on it as a single source of income. I tend to see it as something that fills spare time. But feel free to tell me I am wrong.

Honing can be as cheap or as expensive as you want to make it. Say you have a collection of 10 razors lets say 1 honing each easily 200 bucks right. I can think of a bunch of stones that can work...
