My Mastro Livi razor, at last: a wonderful life experience!
Bohler K600 steel is mainly known for its toughness, but if I had a choice among non-artisan steels (e.g. not created by Mastro Livi himself from a combination of other steels), I would rather pick a...

My Mastro Livi razor, at last: a wonderful life experience!
Good point - and 10 minutes ago I did just that and ordered in my best Italian a "Damasco Acciaio Inossidabile, 6/8 Full Hollow, Punta Francese, Manico in Corno di Cervo" and left it to Mastro Livi...

Oh, that razor with antler scales of yours is an inspiration and on my Mastro Livi shopping list.
Antler scales combined with Damasteel blade could create a beauty, and I do appreciate the... -

Mastro Livi recommends not to use a 1000 grit stone for setting bevels and (if I remember correctly) uses himself a 3000 grit stone for this task.
It is my understanding that coarser stones... -

Good Day - Bad Day
Yesterday started off as a good day, two new Mastro Livi razors, including the 2016 Club razor, had arrived and I went and picked them up from the local FedEx office as I did... -

My Mastro Livi razor, at last: a wonderful life experience!

The edge (centre) that you shave with is stainless steel.
I hope... -

My Mastro Livi razor, at last: a wonderful life experience!
I really enjoy my two Mastro Livi strops with their soft and supple leather.
They give exceptional results.
They only aspect where I wish for a change is the wooden box - in particular for the... -

Yes, one could say "they discontinued selling them for some reason".
From what I gathered when I visited Mastro Livi in May, the cooperation with SRD seems to have ended.
No need to speculate any... -

My Mastro Livi razor, at last: a wonderful life experience!
Beautiful razor, very unusual in design and colour.
I agree that Palmolive is an exceptional value, either as cream or as shaving stick (if you can find it, because it has apparently been... -

My Mastro Livi razor, at last: a wonderful life experience!
Beautiful, both of them.
Last time in Italy I was tempted to order a Mastro Livi with antler scales, as razors like this are much harder to find than razors with horn scales.
In my childhood it... -

My Mastro Livi razor, at last: a wonderful life experience!
Well said Glock; I feel like you.
I also believe that part of the attraction of shaving with straight razors is that we have learned to work with a tool where one has to make a conscious effort to... -

Well; he didn't yell at me, so I must have done (most of) it right. :-)
In fact, I enjoyed the Mastro's sense of humour, e.g. calling the laboratorio (despite the temperatures near his forge) his... -
