You do know that traveler jnat hones are wonderful thing to explore. My current fave is a Shobu Type 100 from Alex.

Karasu are from a lower layer and are in general harder stones, and harder stones can sometimes be scratchy on clear water. They're not always hard but the chances are a karasu is harder...
