    I've even heard of people who thought hone wear was the mark of a razor that people kept honing rather than replacing, because they were good shavers.

    Before working on a razor I always dull the edge slightly on the side of a fine stone. Something like the unglazed portion on the bottom of a coffee cup would probably work...
