I almost want to buy one of these tri-hones for knives because it seems like such a good deal, but I don't need anymore of these types of hones. It would be even better if the hones were not fastened...

Yeah, I agree with that part, but you can't really compare it to the 1k challenge if you use paste.

Keith Johnson has gone 1k, to a three paste progression, to a shaving edge.
