What I am wondering is why do they need to get them so finely sharp?
Wouldn't the blade be too thin at the edge?

Ok..... What makes this hone so special that it sells for around $500 or more? ( The one in the picture is said to be "UNUSED".
It has NORTON in an oval imprinted on the hone. I understand they do...
