No I did not bookmatch the scales, the wood was not thick enough to permit it. I made the spacer from red brass.

JM, yes I have seen those types of razors which have a thin blade inserted into a thicker spine, i never thought of using a piece of brass tube to make the right angle for honing, I may try that on...
