    This has got to be Celluloid Rot. Everything lines up even better than Bills example. The red circle is pretty faint. Sorry about that.

    Black scales smell like burnt tar. White scales...

    Black scales smell like burnt tar.
    White scales smell a little like minty-eucalyptus soapy plastic.
    Whether or not thats due to degassing or just first generation plastic technology.
