Well, the Shapton 1k certainly seems faster than my Norton. Had to rehone a razor that I dinged the edge on and got the bevel reset quicker than I expected.

Looks like the speed of the HR Glass Stones might be worth the extra $. A 1-4-8-16 Glass progression should be an efficient setup. Decided to get a Glass 1k and give it a try.

I'm considering transitioning to glass when I start honing again but I would probably just go to 8 or 16 and use film or compound if I wanted to go finer....
