That's just about what I'm doing, Phrank! And it really seems to be doing the trick.

I might add that for the last couple of months I've been loading a old linen strop with the bank sinker every day watching it turn grey and then white by the next morning, then giving the day's razor...

With all this positive feedback on the resulting edge, I believe that a properly leaded strop is a winner!!

You can also use a bank sinker from your salt water tackle box to prepare the strop. Works well!
