I would think so . Bone is porous so I suppose any liquid will stain it . I used mineral oil , and aside from the staining the scales are fine .

About 2 years ago I made the mistake of oiling the pivot pins on some of my razors . one had bone scales , and it stained the scales . The stain has faded a bit over time , but it's still there ....
