Thanks guys! It indeed is carbon steel. In '69 they change the logo (at least on the box) to negative one - background-colored twins in foreground-colored square. Hence my guess.

On my recent Tokyo shop spree I stumbled upon this NOS, pristine and full 8/8 #14:

Judging from the logo style - it's from before '69, or am I mistaken?
