Yeah I agree with Addison, as a beginner you WILL nick and possibly cut your strop. We all have done it. So a lower priced one would be a good starter

It seems the Kanayama strops are the creme da la creme of strops
Maybe one day, but I have a long way to go before I'd attempt using one. My skills are good, but not great

Well I did pull the trigger on a buffalo strop from SRD and will see how I like that. It says it is a thinner strop than the heavy leather one I have now.

Now I have a quality strop from the Premier Strop Company so it's not that I need a good one. But what are the differences?
