Here are two Original Superspeeds. Also called the 1940s Superspeed. Identified by the fine knurling on the entire length of the handle and having side plates. In late 1946 they made the first ones...

The notch is that spot on the side of the center bar. It was made so you can hook the blade with the notch then it would drop down in place. I will show an un notched razor later.

Here is a Gillette Milord.
I think they only came in Gold Plating. This one is from 1947 I believe...

Shaun, You have an Aristocrat Slim in gold. I think the last year they were made was 1967. They don't come up very often. A rare Gillette for sure.
