It sounds as if sanding will take care of the problem. Rubbing the area with your hand after sanding will deposit enough oil to take of the fresh area.:gl:

If the nicks have flaps that you can lift. Contact cement is a great fix for those. If there isn't any flaps, you can sand down the nicks with either a ordinary pumice stone or 150 grit sandpaper.
