I have recently sanded it with 1000 grit wet/dry...
I have recently sanded it with 1000 grit wet/dry to get rid of some nicks and dents and lightly applied some neatsfoot oil to restore the surface.
It is very supple and has a light draw.

I hadn’t noticed before, but is the butterfly clasp in brass a tell that the strop is one of those special ones? If it is, I have one and didn’t know it.

Sounds like a previous owner might have applied something like the TI white crayon to the fabric. I have made that mistake myself and decided to wash it out afterwards.
