I put a couple of capfuls in an old coffee jar top up with water and use it, when I have finished in maybe 15 minutes...

When I recieve or send a razor I soak the blade for 15 minutes or so in Barbacide, a bottle last for ever when diluted according to the instructions and will kill anything even HIV.

As you inherited the razor Billy and it probably means something to you, I would order the OEM blades.

You don't have much to lose except the cost of blades and I can't imagine thats too much.
