You can see there is minimal wear compared to te backside

There is no flat side

Both sides of a Traditional Kamisori (Wa kamisori) are hollow, they are just Asymmetrical

You could also re-grind the front (kanji) side but unless people really abused...

I started at 80 grit, ended at 320 wet

As you can see from the before pic someone had used a Scrapper (Sen) to re-cut the hollow.
