The size of the file depends on how complex the image is. The images hosted on SRP are resized to when first uploaded 700px x 700px (or if not square the largest dimension is 700px). A single color...

I don't think the size of the images hosted here is small. It's 700px x 700 px and it fits reasonably well with the forum layout on most people's desktops.
