    I like JoeD's idea in the event one would ever want to separate the halves again (using a heat sensitive glue) as the epoxy route is essentially permanent.

    Use an epoxy. JB Weld is a good choice since you can clean up the squeeze out (lapping or sanding it) after it's cured and it's waterproof.
