I agree. A new razor rarely measures up to a good vintage. I vote that competition made them be better razors in order to survive.

SS takes a little more work to do and it does hold the hone longer. Don't get me wrong but it isn't going to be a huge difference I think. I think the rest resistance is the greatest feature.

I have a Friodur and a Hess stainless. I like them alot. I would try one. I think that the holding the hone might be overrated though. They don't seem to hold on much longer to me.
