The best advice I can give you is to try to use no more pressure on the stone than the weight of the blade. Also, if you edge is close to where you like it work in small increments of 3-5 X strokes...

I'm pretty sure I still have my Kitiyama 8K here. Haven't used it in a while as the Norton 8K back then was better for me. If it's working for you, I would stick with it. It's not a bad hone at all....
