I think it has to do with cleaning rust from a blade with the scales still on... especially at the pivot point. It would be nice to have a product the you could basically saturate the pivot point...

I think I've got a bunch of broken Ivory from a seven day set where most was unsalvagable. I am not home right now (on tour until June) but could maybe send something then if you can't find anyone...
