Yup, that is an excellent point that I don't think I ever would have imagined.

I think the point that might be getting missed here is that the razor was sharp, used 8 times, and then put away. It should only need a light touch up unless the edge was rolled during stropping.

First step definitely would be to strop on leather much more. Try at least 50 strokes. Since it's been a while, be very careful to make each of those strokes perfect.
