    It's been way too long since I've done any honing on a BBW, but I guess I don't see any reason why slurry dulling would not occur on a BBW in the same manner as on a coticule.

    I found the same thing. A diamond plate produced crescent shaped shards in the slurry, while the rubbing stone created pieces that were more symmetrical in shape.

    It remains utterly pointless to assign a grit rating to any natural hone. Grit rating refers to the SIZE of the grit put into the synthetic hone. Even in synthetic hones, the size is borderline...
