The edge of the hone should always be slightly rounded. A sharp edge will create micronicks in the razors edge.

The gradually tapering width of the bevel says that you are using uneven pressure. Make an effort to correct that.

Also, it is not absolutely necessary to have a perfectly uniform bevel width....
