But I'll keep the tape trick in my bags of tricks for when I see a need for it. -

I just objected to the "destroyed", to keep them alive longer with minimal hone wear is a good thing I think, be it tape or no tape! -

I get that, I got no problem with taping,...
I get that, I got no problem with taping, especially when honing NOS, brand new, decorated spine and so on, but an old well honed razor got a charm of it own.

I got some Jnats that's really prone to scratching if you get to much friction on them.
I'm going to try a few razors with tape on them, it might do... -

You guys who use tape, don't you feel it in someway degrades the feeling on the hone?
I go by the feeling and sound a lot to know what's happening. -

I always thought they should be honed down...
I always thought they should be honed down together, with tape you will change the angle since your never hone the spine.
It probably really doesn't matter... it's just me, I don't like tape when...
