Whatever you do, keep the scales. If they are original and undamaged they are worth something. Perhaps you'll luck into a good blade with broken scales down the road.

People cut the spine and make 'shorty' razors, but that is too extreme IMO. Not that it couldn't be done, but whether it would be worth it, usable ....... I don't know ? Others will chime in with...
