Full disclosure, I didn't watch the video. I was thinking, however, that if I was going to apply wax to leather, it would be to a pair of shoes that were going to be exposed to the elements.

Not to 'pile on' but ..... to the best of my knowledge draw , also known as friction, or resistance, is a desirable characteristic in a razor strop. Wouldn't wax make the horsehide strop, well known...

I've never done that, too lazy, but honedright has said he got very good results with it. He also pointed out that old barber manuals recommend it and give instructions. OTOH, Kanayama says no more...

Kanayama recommends palm rubbing. That is what I do. I've put a touch of neatsfoot on a couple of strops to increase draw. A little goes a long way. :)
