I don't soak mine. I use a cotton make-up pad (looking for another option) to wipe the blade clean. That little amount of alcohol does its job and evaporates immediately. I do the same to my keyboard...

I use rubbing alcohol and it works just fine.
I clean my razor before and after shaving, just before going to the strop.
