    Right, the people on the tang were probably not the makers - it was most likely a Sheffield blade, even though the company incorporated R. S. Richardson & Co, cutlers. See below for my reasons why...

    There was a William Richardson, cutler, residing in Edinburgh around 1830 - could that be the person? Never heard of 'Edimburg' before, though there is an Edinburg in the US.
