I Googled the address of Gelle Freres and I found THIS page. It's an old...

Hmm...the first half of the writing inside the star is French for Premiere or 1st (1RE). The last half is not Hebrew. And the star is neither Jewish nor Masonic.

Yes, it does help. It confirms the dove/branch logo in front of the RAMEAU stamp. (Now if we could just identify and confirm that darn six-point star stamp! LOL)

On the reverse side is stamped (upside-down): GELLE FRERES A PARIS.

So it seems it was made by the Rameau character/company for the Gelle Freres company.

The Gelle Freres company was around until 1942, so it's possible. However, the the symbol doesn't look like a CL, or even a worn away CL, to me.

Plus, the black horn scales make me think it was...

That's interesting. I found a bazillion sources all over the internet with photos that show the six-point star as a masonic symbol, often with the letter G inside.
