10 strokes at a time is a good safe approach & may be all that's needed if all prior steps were perfect. ie minimalist but effective.
If you can identically reproduce 10 of Lynn's strokes...

This is possibly your stropping .
Aim for the razor to cut hair before you get to 12k. Also 10 stokes on 8k may be a bit minimalist.

Hopefully your razor is not warped etc making it a challenge...
