Hiya. Well with my even more limited knowledge that may well be so :) Pretty sure the pieces I've seen were differentially hardened. Don't know if that makes a difference :shrug:

Randy , have you considered etching the blade.? Some steels & I think 1095 is one, display beautiful alloy banding after a few acid baths. Icing on the cake if you like the look.
