Thanx Dylan . I guessed maybe that was it. Early 1900's was when WR Case split from Cattaraugus too. Maybe the Champlins wanted to keep the design to themselves ? I dunno.

I bought this one a while back on eBay because I'd seen very few such radical grinds. I don't know what the 1902 patent stamped on the tang refers to so if anyone can enlighten me ,thanx in...
