Since the hole is irregular, chances are some parts of it will be narrower than the tubing. I had a couple of choppers like that. So I needed to grind a bit of metal off the outside before cutting...

I vote for John's initial suggestion. You may need to shave some metal off the 3/32 bronze tubing to make it fit, but once you get it in and get the pin through it, you get a very tight and stable...
